Home About the project The vessel The first expedition Logbook
When conservation projects are implemented to protect a species and/or a habitat, nature appears to be able to recover faster than expected and to a greater extent than expected.

And that's good news in a world that seems to be on fire: wars, food shortages, polarization, a lack of perspective and the effects of climate change.

In these turbulent times, Ocean Traveler wants to bring a positive message, at least in the areas of climate change and nature. We want to give hope. We want to show that small, positive initiatives can achieve significant results.

Ocean Traveler will be setting sail, visiting conservationists and their projects along the coasts (and up to approximately 5 km inland) and reporting on the results of these projects through both online and traditional media.

Be surprised and amazed by what you'll see and hear. Experience Ocean Traveler with us and discover that even small, everyday actions can truly make a difference.

The Dutch marine biologist and underwater filmer Hilmar Derksen will be happy to show it to you.

"Hope is often misunderstood. People tend to think
that it is simply passive wishful thinking...
This is indeed the opposite of real hope,
which requires action and engagement"

- Dr. Jane Goodall (1934 - 2025), The Book of Hope
